iQOO Z5x MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset confirmed ahead of October 20 launch

The phone will also get a triple-camera setup on the back

Following the launch of the Z5 in India, QOO is preparing to launch another smartphone next week. The IQOO Z5x will launch in China on October 20. Although many details about the device are unknown, the company has confirmed a few specs.

In a recent Weibo post, QOO has confirmed that its upcoming Z5x handset will be powered by the MediaTek Dimension 900 SoC. The Dimension 900 is a 5G chipset built with 6nm processor. The chip comes with two cortex-A78 power cores clocked at 2.4GHz and six cortex-A55 cores of 2.0GHz. Dimension 900 also uses the Mali-G68 graphics unit.

In a previous post, the company also confirmed that the upcoming iQOO Z5x will come in orange color variations. Aside from the back panel, the post image also shows what appears to be a set of three rear cameras. The set contains rumors of a 50 MP main sensor.

You can also see the volume rocker and the fingerprint reader on the side, which suggests that the phone will use the LCD panel in contrast to the AMOLED display. The LCD screen is a recurring theme in the current generation of inexpensive iQOO Z. Cables, however, we can expect the device to have a higher update rate such as IQOO Z3 (Review) and Z5 (Review).

The Z5x is also expected to pack a large 5,000 mAh battery with fast charging support. Further details about this device are likely to be revealed closer to its launch date of October 20.
